The LSU Textile Museum has a timeless display of Louisiana’s iconic clothing throughout the decades.
They have outfits ranging from first lady gowns, mardi gras dresses, and even in lsu sports apparel. Some of the pieces that are put on view were once worn by celebrities or athletes at the time.
The museum shows “Buckskin Bill” Bill Black’s iconic tasseled jacket, and even 1950s actor Donna Douglas’s movie set pieces.
The community donates these clothing pieces to further embrace that Louisiana culture.
Morgan Strzynski, a PhD candidate of the Textile Apparel and Merchandising school, further explains how the community strengthens within the exhibit.
“It’s really great to connect with the community and our donors, so a lot of people who have items in the show have been able to bring their family and their friends, colleagues, things like that, so it’s been a great way to do a perfect outreach as well,” Strzynski said.
The Textile Museum is open until March 6th. You can find this exhibit inside the Human Ecology building on the first floor.
