LSU Women’s Basketball defeated the number 24 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide 103-63.

This win makes the Lady Tigers 7-2 in SEC Play after a previous victory against the Arkansas Razorbacks, Thursday Night in the PMAC.

This win came from a team effort on the offensive and defensive side of the basketball. The Lady Tigers forced Alabama tough shots late in the shot clock which fatigued the Crimson Tide.

LSU’s defensive effort showed in the stat sheet. Alabama only shot 39 percent from the field, and LSU recorded 11 blocks total in the game.

LSU’s offense also came to play shooting 56 percent from the field and 48 percent from three. LSU also shared the basketball very often. They had 20 assists as a team.

LSU also dominated the glass. Rebounding is something they’ve been prioritizing as a team since their first two SEC losses. LSU out-rebounded Alabama 43 to 28.

The leading scorers on the day were Guard Jada Richard with 16 points. Guards Mikayla Williams and Zakiyah Johnson both had 15 points on the day. Johnson also had 10 rebounds to secure the double-double.

Starting Forward Kate Koval owe-ned the paint in the win today. Koval had eight points, nine rebounds , and led the team in blocks with three.

The LSU lady Tigers look to continue their hot streak heading to Austin on as they will face the number 4 ranked Texas Longhorns at 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 5th.
