LSU Softball moves to 6-0 on the season as they defeat Lamar University 8-0 to end their home stretch at Tiger Field.

This was the last game of the Tiger Classic which was hosted by LSU. LSU had already shutout Lamar, so they were feeling good coming into this one.

At first, LSU’s offense struggled. They only scored once in the first two innings, but once LSU was able to come down, they got to work. They tallied seven runs in the final three in innings which included a home run from Utility Tori Edwards.

When asked about this win Edwards said, “We have so many pieces on this team. It doesn’t really matter who’s on, who’s off. We’re gonna get it done. We’re gonna end up with the win.”

LSU’s biggest strength against Lamar was the way they played as a team. LSU had nine hits, and LSU only allowed 1 hit on the other side of the ball.

“I saw a lot of good things from a lot of different people. Obviously, we still have a lot to learn, but we set the bar very high for what this group is capable of,” LSU Softball Head Coach Beth Torina said.

The Tigers will begin their first road trip of the year on February 12th as they will travel to play in the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational in Clearwater, Florida to face off against the University of Nebraska.
