Every day in our community, neighbors arrive at the pharmacy counter with prescriptions in hand but no way to pay for them. At the St. Vincent DePaul Community Pharmacy, no one has to choose between their health and basic necessities.
Pharmacies, medical centers, and businesses in the Baton Rouge area are all participating by displaying special donation collection containers. To donate, simply place your cash donation in one of the provided prescription bottles, and insert it into the canister. The pharmacy has approximately 170 of these canisters throughout the community.
SVDP Pharmacy Technician Lisa Smith spoke more about the most common types of illnesses treated by the fundraiser.
“Many people can’t afford their medications like their high blood-pressure, heart medications, asthma medications,” says Smith. “Donations really help distribute the medications for patients in need and keep them from going to the hospital.”
