With the start of the Lenten season, many people are getting seafood on Fridays.
But instead of a crawfish boil, it’s a fish fry.
Located in the parking lot of 412 North Street, you will see people frying homemade catfish.
Each box is $10 and comes with fried catfish, fries, and hush puppies.
Members of the Knights share their love for cooking and use their talents to bring the community together.
Fish Fryer, Billy Rimes, explains the process of making the homemade fish.
“We have our own recipe for that batter, and we mix all that together, and then I take the catfish, and I put them in buttermilk and soak them for about half an hour in buttermilk, and then I pull them out piece by piece, and we roll it in the batter, and then we put it in the fryers and fry them.”
With this being their first fish fry of the season, it went well, with many sales and with hopes of even more people coming to the next one.
Charles Semeeri is excited for the next one and is prepared to get more supplies.
“I think the first day went exceptionally. We have two more scheduled. We do it every other Friday, and I know for the next one, I’ve got to buy more supplies, and that’s always a good sign.”
The next fish fry will be held on Friday, March 6th, so next time you’re in the mood for seafood, you know exactly where to go.
