This week’s update on LSU Athletics contains a mixed bag of both success and failure.
As for the successes, the LSU Women’s Basketball team finished off the regular season hot winning four straight games. Most recently, the team beat Mississippi State thanks to a huge game by All-SEC First Team member, Mikaylah Williams.
The team now turns their focus to the SEC tournament where they will take on Oklahoma in the quarterfinals.
Another team peaking as their regular season winds down is LSU Gymnastics. The team recently posted their second highest score of the season in the Podium Challenge.
Sophomore Kailin Chio was a big reason for this as she continues her historic season. The all-arounder posted her third straight perfect 10 on beam en route to an LSU victory.
Finally, the LSU Baseball team appears to have hit a rough patch losing two straight non-conference games.
Tuesday night the Tigers fell to the University of Louisiana Rajun Cajuns 7-2 in Lafayette. Prior to that, the team got dominated by Northeastern on Monday losing 13-10.
Although the team has had a slow week, sophomore starting pitcher William Schmidt has been all gas, no breaks.
The flamethrowing right-hander is 2-0 in his last two starts with 16 strike outs and only allowing one walk.
Schmidt and the Tigers look to get back to their winning ways Friday as they start a three game series with Sacramento State.
