LSU Student Government election results will be announced Thursday at 5 p.m. in the Student Union.

The unofficial results for student body president and vice president, college council and senate elections will be presented in the Atchafalaya Room in the Union.

Along with being open to the public, there will also be a livestream via Zoom for students to watch.

After elections closed on March 20, multiple campaigns were facing lawsuits for allegedly violating the Election Code.

Since then, both lawsuits brought against Benjamin Barousse and Anna Katherine Harrell of the Home ticket by Tyhlar Holliway and Gabreyela Gonzalez of the Heart ticket have been settled via an alternative dispute resolution.

The alternate resolution means no decision will be made by the University Court on the suits.

Both parties agreed that the Home ticket should receive four penalties for submitting inaccurate spending reports and violating the food and drink limit in the Election Code.

Receiving four penalties is under the required eight penalties for a campaign to be disqualified.

Additionally, both parties agreed to share a statement on their respective campaign’s Instagram account to address the alleged threatening of the Heart campaign by a member of the Home campaign.

“The Home and Heart tickets wholeheartedly condemn this behavior,” the statement reads. “It is unacceptable and falls short of the ethical standards required for all student leaders and representatives.”

The third suit, filed by Jack Miller and Sydney Hebert of the Rooted ticket against Darion Frazier and Bellamia Miceli of the Together ticket, was voluntarily dismissed by the Rooted ticket on Monday.

As a result of the suits, no campaign was disqualified from the election and all are eligible to win on Thursday.
