LSU Baseball lost 10-7 in a midweek matchup against Bethune-Cookman.
The Tigers struck first to start the game as Derek Curiel drove in the first run of the game on an RBI single.
A double steal scored Jake Brown from third base that same inning, before Bethune-Cookman got on the board in the second with a run scoring Erick Almonte single. The Wildcats took the lead in that second inning as an RBI single and double brought home two more runs.
LSU responded in the third as Brown ripped a single, scoring Mason Braun, to tie the game. A scoreless third inning by the Tigers pitching staff set up an RBI double off the center field wall by Cade Arrambide, who had three hits after his historic four homerun day on Sunday.
Then in the fourth inning, Jorge Rodriguez hammered a game tying solo-homer to left field. That same inning Curiel responded by lining a single up the middle, giving the Tigers a 5-4 lead.
The Wildcats got to the Tigers pitching staff again, as Michael Rodriguez doubled home the game tying run. LSU responded as Brown continued his impressive season with a tape measure home run to retake the lead in the sixth.
This homer did not sit well with the Wildcats, as they scored five runs in the seventh taking a 10-6 lead. Two walks an error and a single caused the downfall of the Tigers in the seventh inning.
LSU attempted the comeback in the ninth, getting two runners on base for John Pearson, who hit a sharp ground ball that the shortstop, Almonte, fielded cleanly but missed the throw to first, scoring the run from third. Curiel came up with the chance to tie the game but rolled a ground ball that Almonte successfully made the play, ending the game.
The loss brings the Tigers overall record to 22-12 while remaining 6-6 in SEC play. That record will be tested as LSU heads to Oxford, Mississippi, for a three-game series with Ole Miss starting Friday at 6:30.
