Although Timothy Wayne’s college career is coming to an end, his country music career is just getting started.
Wayne, a senior at Louisiana State University studying history, is expected to graduate in May 2026. During his time at LSU, he has balanced academics with fraternity involvement and a role as a social media intern for the university, all while building his career as a country music artist through work in the studio and live performances.
“My teachers are a massive help here at LSU. They give me a lot more leeway than they probably should have, but it’s just a really great team and community that helps me out every way they can,” Wayne said.
Music runs in the family. Wayne is the nephew of country star Tim McGraw, who was recently announced as a 2026 inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame. While Wayne says he’s grateful for the mentorship, he is focused on establishing his own identity in the industry.
“Carving out your own identity is hard enough as it is, and then you’ve got these giants next to you, but we’re doing it, taking everything in stride,” Wayne said.
McGraw also played a role in Wayne’s latest single, “Guarandamntee Ya,” the first song Wayne ever recorded in a studio. What began as a visit to watch one of his uncle’s recording sessions quickly turned into an unexpected opportunity.
“I said hi to everybody, and then he shoved me in a room, put headphones on me, and said, ‘Here’s how you control your volume. Here’s the microphone. Here’s your lyric sheet. Remember that song I sent you? Sing it,” Wayne said.
Wayne has also released songs including “Guy With a Guitar,” “God Made a Country Boy,” and his rendition of “Louisiana Saturday Night.” He is set to launch his own tour in June and will join McGraw on the “Pawn Shop Guitar Tour” in July.
Before that, Wayne will headline a performance at the Texas Club on Friday, April 10, which will be his final performance at the world-famous venue before graduation in May. A special guest may also make an appearance.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at www.TheTexasClub.com.
