The No. 20 LSU Softball dominates McNeese State 16-0 in a mid-week game that LSU had complete and total control from start to finish.
LSU’s play was so excellent that the game ended in a run rule after only four and a half innings, as LSU still was able to record 14 hits in only 25 at-bats.
The Tigers were hot right from the beginning, scoring four runs in the first inning and eight runs in the second while the Cowgirls just couldn’t handle the star-studded offense of LSU.
McNeese State pitcher Taylor Brookleyn only pitched 0.2 innings before she was pulled due to allowing two hits and four runs, and her coach was searching for a pitcher to slow down LSU’s offense. They simply couldn’t find it.
On the other side of the mound, LSU Pitcher Cece Cellura was phenomenal. She may have only recorded one strike-out, but Cellura was so close to pitching a perfect game, only allowing one hit.
Everyone who stepped up to the plate for LSU excelled, but there always has to be an “i” in team. Outfielder Jalia Lassiter was on point. She scored two runs, as well as the only homerun of the game in the fourth inning to ruin any hopes of a comeback.
After this win, LSU will host Auburn in a series starting on Thursday, April 30th. LSU will look to carry the momentum of Tuesday’s win over McNeese State into a much more challenging opponent in conference play.
