After the end of the 2026 season, two of LSU Softball’s biggest pieces have entered their names into the transfer portal.
Left-handed ace Jayden Heavener made her announcement on Monday.
“This hasn’t been an easy decision, I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities and friendships I made along the way,” Heavener said in an Instagram post.
During the 2025 season, Heavener was an unstoppable force in the circle for LSU. She posted a 2.75 ERA on the season with 152 strikeouts. She earned herself All-American honors, being named to D1Softball’s Freshman All-American Second Team.
In the 2026 season, Heavener continued to be dominant. In her sophomore season, she posted a 2.81 ERA with 16 complete games and 128 strikeouts. She enters the portal with two years of eligibility.
Redshirt Sophomore power hitter Tori Edwards announced her entry into the portal on Tuesday.
“I am extremely grateful for all of the friendships and opportunities that LSU has given me. This experience has helped shape me in many ways,” Edwards said on Instagram.
Edwards set a single-season slugging record for the Tigers in her 2025 season with a .802% and tied the program-record 18 home runs in a single season. She finished her freshman season with a .375 batting average with 62 hits, scoring 52 runs. Edwards was named the 2025 SEC Freshman of the Year after the 2025 season.
In her 2026 season, Edwards put up a .284 average, scoring 39 runs and logging 12 homers. Edwards enters the portal as a redshirt sophomore with two years of eligibility.
LSU will look to fill the shoes of these key forces on the team during the offseason.
