Swedish synthpop act Icona Pop are sure to draw in a packed crowd on the success of their hit single “I Love It” alone, but the whole set should be worth catching.
The duo, made up of Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjeit, are known to command the stage in all black and matching clubmasters, cutting through their beats with live vocals when they’re not bouncing over face-to-face turntables. Jawo brings the writhing, head-banging edge to their set, while Hjeit is all unaffected European chill.
Despite having one of the earliest sets of the day, the Ballroom stage should provide the perfect atmosphere for Icona Pop’s gritty nighttime mystique.
Jawo and Hjeit love to take their music far beyond the studio in their live set with heavier beats, extended remixes and improvisations on every song, so don’t expect any track to sound like it did on the album. Instead, expect Icona Pop to make you want to throw on some body glitter and kick someone in the face.
