One of the biggest names on the lineup this year, Passion Pit will likely draw one of the largest and most excited crowds of the weekend.
It’s just as well, because the indie darlings have shown an affinity for involving the audience. With the success they’ve had since 2008 taking them from music festivals across the world to Saturday Night Live, Passion Pit has had plenty of time to learn how to put on a stunner of a show.
The band mixes live instrumentation with looped and mixed recordings to translate the layers and complexity of their music from the track to the stage, and lead singer Michael Angelakos always brings earnest emotion to his live shows — not just in his singing but in his interactions with the audience between songs.
You can count on immersive sound, hypnotic stage production and a crowd full of everything from stoned frat guys to girls with chest tattoos to grad students. Passion Pit’s set overlaps with both Major Lazer and STS9, though, so fans of the electronic and psychedelic may have split loyalties.
