After exploding for four home runs in four games en route to a 3-1 week, LSU senior first baseman Mason Katz was named both Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week and Southeastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
Complete with a .588 on-base percentage through the four-game week, Katz started his week going 3-for-4 with a homer in the Tigers’ (18-2, 2-1 SEC) 9-3 win against Nicholls State.
The Harahan, La. native carried his momentum to Starkville, Miss., where he launched three more home runs and scored four runs in the Tigers’ series win against Mississippi State, including a go-ahead two-run bomb in the 10th inning of Friday’s game.
Katz currently carries a .352 batting average with a team-leading nine home runs with 32 RBIs.
Katz earned both honors during last season, as well.
