For the fifth time in 10 years the honor of Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Year is bestowed upon a member of LSU.
Sophomore Rheagan Courville was named the top performer in the conference during the award show preceding the Conference Championships this weekend.
Courville leads the nation in all around titles with eight this season and leads the SEC in individual titles with 21.
The Baton Rouge native ranks among the nation’s top 25 in every category during her 2013 campaign, including No. 5 in vault and No. 6 in the all around.
She becomes the fourth Tiger to take home the award after April Burkholder who won it in 2004 and 2005, Ashleigh Clare-Kearney in 2008 and Susan Jackson in 2010.
Courville was also two-time SEC gymnast of the week for her performances against North Carolina State in the season opener and the team’s road trip to Missouri.
