Student Government Senate passed a concurrent resolution to repurpose student fee funds from the Paid Admission Concert Fund to a newly proposed “Organization Ideas to Action” fund.
With the 98 percent approval of the concurrent resolution, the fate of the legislation now moves into the students’ hands. Although the resolution was adopted by the
legislative branch, it must now be approved by students in the general election March 11 and 12, after which it will go before the Board of Supervisors.
The Paid Admission Concert Fund is funded through a required student fee of 90 cents per student per semester. The fund’s original purpose was to hold a paid
admissions concerts for students. However, the fund has only been utilized once since its implementation in 2001.
The fund has now reached an accumulated $247,325.49, according to the resolution.
If approved by students and the Board of Supervisors, the resolution would repurpose the funds in the Paid Admission Concert Fund to a newly created
Organization Ideas to Action fund, which would open up the $247,325.49 in the fund to other student organizations.
