After defeating the Auburn Tigers in a deciding SEC home opener, Les Miles and his team know that there is much more work to be done with eight games remaining on the regular season schedule and with seven of those games being against SEC opponents. LSU defeated Auburn Saturday night 35-21 in Death Valley, although the scoreboard might not do Miles’ team justice. LSU pounced on Auburn early after LSU’s Jeremy Hill spilt the Auburn defense and ran 49 yards through the rain for the Tigers first score of the night with 11:16 left in the first quarter. LSU would then race out to a 21-0 lead over Auburn at halftime. After LSU’s quick start in the first half, the other Tigers started to claw their way back into the game, cutting LSU’s lead to just fourteen points with three minutes left to play in the third quarter. LSU would hold strong from that point on and go on to make the plays necessary to win decisively over Auburn in a 35-21 victory. LSU looked good but not great on Saturday night which may not be good enough when facing next week’s opponent Georgia.
The ninth ranked Bulldogs are led by senior quarterback Aaron Murray and dynamic running back Todd Gurley. Both who are going to be by-far the toughest test of the year for LSU’s young defense. With that said, LSU’s playing with a demeanor and confidence we haven’t seen since 2011, the year the Tigers last played for the national title. It’s early in the season but you gotta love this team’s attitude heading into a hostile environment in Athens, GA. On to the next one.
