This year already looks promising for reunions and comebacks in the music world, and The Postal Service may be another return to add that list.
Speculation is running wild after the duo, comprised of Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello of electro project Dntel, put up a simple tease on their website.
The Postal Service, famous for that beep-boop song that Iron and Wine covered and you’ve heard on plenty commercials (it’s actually called “Such Great Heights”), resurface on the heels of rumors that they’d reunite at this year’s Coachella. Billboard has sources that say its true, but it’s yet to be confirmed.
What’s for sure is a deluxe reissue of the duo’s sole album “Give Up,” a spectacular work that is regarded by some as one of the best records of the 00’s.
Fans have been waiting 10 years since that album for new material from The Postal Service, and it seems our wish may finally come true.
We can blame the wait on Zooey Deschanel. (Your time’s up, Zooey.)
