The LSU Men’s Basketball team returned to action Saturday afternoon in their first contest since upsetting the 11th ranked Kentucky Wildcats amidst severe wintery conditions. Led by the dynamic duo of Johnny O’Bryant III and Jordan Mickey, the Tigers and their 2-3 zone got the best of an athletic Arkansas squad that took number 3 ranked Florida to overtime earlier in the season.
The impressive frontcourt of O’Bryant and Mickey combined for 45 of the team’s 88 points, while anchoring a defense that blocked 9 shots throughout the game. Jarell Martin contributed 15 points and 5 rebounds of his own, as the Tigers scored transition baskets seemingly at their will.
Moreover, LSU’s defensive front held a solid-shooting Arkansas team to a paltry 32.8 field goal percentage for the duration of the game. The Tigers, who are vying for one of the last four spots in March’s NCAA tournament, have their work cut out for them with an incredibly tough month of February left ahead of them.
