The Lady Tigers cross country team placed ninth in the women’s 5k race, while the men placed 15th in the 8k race in the Crimson Classic at Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa, Alabama Friday.
Junior Morgan Schuetz led the women’s team with a 31th-place finish in 18 minutes and 13.14 seconds. The Lady Tigers finished with 304 points, and accounted for the ninth-place finish out of 33 teams.
Senior Philip Primeaux crossed the line at 25:43.68 for a 28th-place finish. The Tigers totaled 393 points to finish 15th out of 31 teams.
The Clemson Tigers finished in first place in the men’s race with 108 points. Alabama placed first in the women’s race with 68 points.
Behind Schuetz, four Lady Tigers finished in the top 100 out of 291 runners. Senior Andria Aguilar came in at 18:14.31 for 34th place. Sophomores Ashley Welborn and Chaiss Matthews placed 84th and 86th, with senior Andrea Maxwell finishing in 96th place.
In the men’s race, junior Travis Pope came in six seconds after Primeaux for 30th place. Freshman DC Lipani was the last Tiger to net a top 100 finish, out of 261 runners, when he came in at 26:56.51.
LSU will be off next week, before they travel back to Tuscaloosa and Harry Pritchett Running Park for the SEC Championships on Friday, Oct. 31. The women’s 6k race will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the men’s 8k race at 10 a.m.
