Minos the Saint is a recently formed and refreshingly unorthodox trio (sometimes quartet and larger) of respected Louisiana musicians with a far-reaching chamber folk sound. In July 2013 the band celebrated the release of their self-titled EP with a crowd of more than 300 at the Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge. The EP showcases the evolution of the band members’ cooperative relationship, whose richly diverse musical backgrounds come together to yield a sonic kaleidoscope featuring uncommon instrumentation, clever arrangements, and frequent flights of playful improvisation. The result is a fresh brand of experimental-but-accessible folk rock that uniquely represents Louisiana, yet also stands as a collage of sounds from around the world.
