LSUPD arrests student for fighting on game day
A University student was arrested for fighting at a tailgate Saturday.
LSUPD spokesman Capt. Cory Lalonde said Allen Evans of Winnsboro was accused of fighting on the Parade Grounds before the game against Sam Houston State University.
Evans was at a tailgate where the complainant asked him to leave.
Officers said Evans showed signs of intoxication when he initiated a fight at the tailgate and punched several people.
Police on the scene asked Evans to leave the area, and he did, Lalonde said.
Officers took Evans into custody although simple battery charges were not pursued. Lalonde said officers issued him a misdemeanor summons.
Student booked for outstanding traffic warrant
LSUPD officers pulled over a University student Tuesday, Sept. 2, for a traffic violation and later booked him for an outstanding traffic warrant.
LSUPD spokesman Capt. Cory Lalonde said an officer stopped Hassan Hachem on the corner of Highland Rd. and Dalrymple Dr. after Hachem, 20, failed to dim his headlights.
At the traffic stop, the policeman identified Hachem and ran his license, which is when he discovered Hachem’s outstanding traffic warrant from East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.
Hachem was issued a citation for his failure to dim headlights and have proof of insurance before being arrested and taken into custody by LSUPD, Lalonde said.
Officers then booked Hachem on his traffic warrant into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
