Alexis Ledoux is a chemical engineer student by day and wheel thrower by night.
Ledoux is enrolled in the hand building leisure class at LSU. She took pottery classes in high school, but her major doesn’t allow her to take these classes now.
Ledoux loves being able to work on her hobby a few days a week.
“I really like it, it’s a good amount of time so you get to really get into your work and not have to be rushed and leave,” Ledoux said.
Leisure classes give students and other members of the Baton Rouge community a chance to spend a few hours a week working on a hobby or new skill.
The university offers several non-credited classes that vary from semester to semester. To find a schedule of the fall leisure classes click here.
Heather Bilodeau, the communications coordinator for Auxiliary Services at LSU, encourages students to take these classes.
“It’s a class where students can come in, learn a new skill, meet new people and just try something they’ve never done before,” says Bilodeau.
With football season here, the university is preparing fans with LSU cookie decorating and wreath decorating classes. If you are interested in enrolling in a class log on to http://lsuunion.augusoft.net and click the “sign in” button.
