Even the pelicans can’t keep their balance in this icy weather. The LSU lakes froze Wednesday night as temperatures dropped to 18 degrees.
Road closures caused residents to find alternative routes while LSU facility services took other safety precautions on campus.
“We’re trying to make it safe for the students to walk through having it where they won’t slip down and hurt themselves real bad,” said Victor Lathen.
Students focused on their sneaux-day fun activities during the University’s closure Tuesday and Wednesday.
Eyewitnesses say over 50 students sled down the Indian Mounds Tuesday night on everything from pizza boxes and laundry baskets to trash can lids and storage bins.
“My favorite part of it all is snowball fights and just playing in the snow because being from Louisiana, we don’t really get to see snow that often,” said Katrina Doyle*.
Things are slowly getting back in routine as LSU reopened today at 10 a.m. LSU Emergency Operations Center advises to still take caution while driving as some ice may remain into the night.
