Talking Heads began as a new wave band in New York in 1975. The group, led by David Byrne, was active until 1991, and made great strides for the new wave genre and continue to inspire many bands today.
Byrne is considered by many as a “music nerd” due to his acute detail to sound as well as his willingness to experiment with music.
As Wikipedia states, “The new wave style of Talking Heads combined elements of punk rock, art rock, avant-garde, pop, funk, world music, and Americana.”
This wild variety of genres in combination with Byrne’s eccentric stage presence made for incredible live shows.
Talking Heads was inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 and ranked on Rolling Stone’s list of 100 greatest bands of all time.
