Former Nickelodeon star Jamie Lynn Spears is coming back into the spotlight, and Friday night’s concert at The Texas Club was just the beginning to this young star’s success.
The atmosphere was filled with fans ready to hear Spears take the stage for the show that would be her Louisiana debut.
The concert started at 10:32 p.m. with an energy that could be felt throughout the room, especially when Spears said she was happy to be back home.
Spears’ first song, “Shotgun Wedding,” was very up-tempo and was definitely a crowd-pleaser.
She then began her next song by thanking her friend who gave her the idea for the title “Prettiest Girl in the Trailer Park.” During the performance, she stopped mid-song because it wasn’t how she wanted the song to be displayed to her fans. She regrouped and performed it well.
Spears also performed a song she wrote for her Louisiana fans, “Louisiana Bound,” in which she says “set shy south of Jackson, just north of New Orleans, there’s a little town called Kentwood. That’s where I want to be, hey hey take me back to L.A.”
The Louisiana native created a friendly atmosphere by talking to the crowd about her life and added that cute, sweet southern charm that made for a great evening.
Her sweet and caring voice filled the room with words that came from the heart of someone who has been through many obstacles, yet displayed her sweet charm toward the crowd. She drew the crowd into her performance by discussing the heartache, disappointment and joy she has felt in life.
The Louisiana native’s sincere and inspiring words show a young woman who is evolving and throughout the crowd, many could relate too.
During her heartfelt performance she did a cover of big sister Britney’s “Oops I Did It Again,” during her own song, “Miss Mississippi.”
She also covered “Wide Open Spaces” by the Dixie Chicks, during which she shared with the audience how she and her best friend would ride to this song all the time.
Her final song was the hit “How I Could Want More,” which she dedicated to her finance Jamie Watson.
Spears exclaimed that she was happy to see such a great turnout for her first performance at home. She even said she wished she had more to play and gave shout outs to some of her friends she saw in the crowd.
