Baton Rouge Restaurant Week is currently showcasing some of the capital city’s well-known restaurants at discounted prices, luring both experienced foodies and novice tasters to organized samplings of local cuisine.
For Baton Rouge Restaurant Week, each restaurant is creating a three course meal for Baton Rouge Restaurant Week. These typically include staples of their menu, like grilled cheese on focaccia at Chelsea’s Cafe. But some restaurants are adding new items for the event, like Frankie Marcello’s, which added a new appetizer and entree.
Matthew Guercio, manager of Frankie Marcello’s, said the restaurant is adding Eggplant Ann Marie, which is fried eggplant medallions topped with a shrimp and pepper jack cream sauce, as an appetizer. Frankie Marcello’s is also serving Shrimp Marcello as its entree.
The three courses are offered at discounted prices, ranging from $15-35, depending on the restaurant. The participating restaurants are donating $5,000 total to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
“It’s a great week for people to get out and try a bunch of different courses at a lot of different restaurants,” Guercio said. “It’s just a good way to promote the whole restaurant in general in Baton Rouge.”
Many other restaurants agree.
“It’s a nice thing,” said Thomas Bequette, kitchen manager at Chelsea’s Cafe. “We’re trying to make this a little highlight on our evenings as well. We have extra people just trying to make it as great as we can.”
Wayne Shelton, general manager of Leroy’s feels the same way.
“It’s a great thing for local restaurants to get involved in and get their names out,” Shelton said.
Baton Rouge Restaurant Week is currently on-going and ends on Jan. 18, with meals only being offered at select hours. For more information, including a full list of participating restaurants, hours and prices check out their website www.eatbr.com.
