LSU baseball defeated Louisiana Tech 11-1 at Alex Box, turning around the script from the losses last weekend.
Following their series defeat in Starkville against Mississippi State, the strength of the Tigers was in question on both offense and defense. They struggled in their conference play opener, but tonight, LSU showed its ability on both sides of the ball.

Finishing the game in eight innings due to the 10-run rule, LSU made a statement against the Bulldogs that the season is far from over.
The bats were consistent all game, adding a run in six of the eight innings played. A handful of Tigers recorded home runs, including one from Tommy White that bounced off the scoreboard in left field.
White has began to showcase his All-American talent at the plate, going 4-for-5 on the day with two singles, a home run and an RBI double to end the game in the bottom of the eighth.
“Tommy Tanks” now has four homeruns in the past four games, closing in on Jared Jones for the most homeruns on the season so far.
Jones and Travinski both followed with a home run as well, adding to the power narrative LSU is beginning to write. Overall, the team drove the ball well all game, leaving only five players on base and executing with runners in scoring position.
On the defense, LSU sent out seven different pitchers across eight innings, with all of them recording solid performances on the mound.
Only one earned run was allowed between them, and Louisiana Tech was only able to grab five hits, but the solidity came from each pitcher’s ability to induce routine plays for the fielders.
Javen Coleman started on the mound for the Tigers, allowing the only run of the game for the Bulldogs, as he had an off night battling a sickness he picked up before the game according to coach Jay Johnson.
Griffin Herring and Aiden Moffett followed, each with an inning of work, keeping the Bulldogs at bay. Justin Loer, Fidel Ulloa, Cam Johnson and Micah Bucknam all pitched as well, each recording a strikeout.
Johnson looked stronger at the mound for the Tigers, showcasing his slider a handful of times. His confidence has improved following a rough start to the season for the freshman.
Between solidity on the mound and consistency at the plate, LSU is returning to their expected strength following their series loss to begin conference play.
The Tigers will take on Florida in their second SEC series at home this weekend. The last time the two faced was in the National Championship last year, and the Gators could prove problematic for LSU. The first game is on Friday at 7 p.m. in Alex Box.
