The Student Senate voted unanimously to pass a bill Wednesday, allocating $1,800 for an upcoming LSU International Cultural Center event.
The authors of the bill, Sens. Chloe Berry, An Tra and Emma Miller, voiced their concerns to the government body and were met with positive return and approval.
The funds will go to the ICC’s “Thankful: Global Village Celebration,” taking place on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Tower Drive near the Student Union from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. With help from LSU Dining and the Department of International Student Affairs, the event was designed to celebrate the unique street foods of countries from around the world. All are encouraged to come and enjoy the festival.
“The event will promote different types of cultures, countries, ethnicities, races and all types of different organizations that have a place here at LSU,” said student Sen. for the College of Science Rami Abdalla, a biochemistry senior.
“I’m very happy that the Senate was able to unite for this cause,” said Sen. Berry. “I think it will be a great experience for the whole student body”
The money allocated by the Student Senate will be used to fund and sponsor the stage and activity supply for the event.
