LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels was officially named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy on Monday along with Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr. and Marvin Harrison Jr.
Daniels finished the season with 3,812 passing yards and 40 passing touchdowns along with 1,134 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. He is the second player in SEC history to throw for over 3,500 yards and rush for over 1,000 yards, the other being Johnny Manziel who won the Heisman in 2012.
Daniels joins Joe Burrow and Tyrann Mathieu as the third ever Heisman finalist from LSU, since the organization became recognizing the group in 1982.
He also has the chance to become LSU’s third ever Heisman winner, following Burrow in 2019 and Billy Cannon in 1959.
The Heisman winner will be announced Saturday, Dec. 9, with the televised ceremony beginning at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN, live from New York.
