The No. 10 LSU men’s golf team completed its 36 hole opening day in first place on Monday in the Valspar Invitational at Floridian in Palm City, Florida.
The Tigers finished with an opening round score of 11-under par, 273. The entire lineup shot for individual scores at even or under par.
Sophomore Eric Ricard led the way for LSU, posting a first-round score of 4-under par. He was followed by senior Stewart Jolly at 3-under par and junior Zach Wright and sophomore Brandon Pierce at 2-under. Senior Ben Taylor closed the leaderboards for the Tigers with an opening round score of even-par.
All teams suffered a 32-minute rain delay at 2:05 p.m., which did not seem to affect the Tigers. LSU went on to shoot for a second-round score of 4-under par, 280.
The Tigers are one stroke ahead of Florida State and the rest of the field at even or over par. Day two begins at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
