After falling to then-No. 1 South Carolina by 24 points a week ago, the LSU women’s basketball team rebounded Thursday night with a 64-52 home win against Georgia.
The Lady Tigers (15-10, 9-4 Southeastern Conference) earned their fourth win against a top-50 RPI team and extend their winning streak to six games in the PMAC. Junior guard Danielle Ballard earned her fourth double-double this season with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Although Ballard led the Lady Tigers in rebounds, sophomore guard Rina Hill created runs early in both periods to put and keep LSU in control.
In the first half, LSU jumped out to a 10 point lead with an 8-0 run sparked by Hill’s jumper with 17:14 remaining in the half. Senior guard DaShawn Harden led LSU from behind the 3-point line, shooting 2-for-4 from behind the arc.
The Lady Tigers extended their six-point halftime lead with a 10-0 run sparked by layup by Hill with 17:49 remaining in the half. Throughout the rest of the second half, the Lady Bulldogs (17-9, 5-8 SEC) were not able to cut the lead to fewer than seven points.
