Regarding a merchandise website shut down prior to the start of the 2014 season, LSU has begun an investigation into potential NCAA violations by sophomore running back Leonard Fournette’s family, according to report by USA Today on Tuesday.
Fournette’s family allegedly started and then promptly shut down a website intended to sell merchandise with Fournette’s “BUGA Nation” mantra adorned on items before the tailback ever played a down at LSU.
According to USA Today, the family’s manager made a $10,000 payment to start the website and generate the merchandise, and the three companies that were involved provided the manager and Fournette’s family more than $20,000 in discounts based on projected sales.
According to the report, the family said the merchandise never included a picture of the running back or his name.
