Here’s what I’m keeping my eyes out for in the next month of 2015. I’ve got some dates you should most definitely write down in your calendar or at least a piece of paper somewhere on your desk.
Kill The Noise – Occult Classic (October 2015)
This album coming out of the OWSLA label next month has me so unbelievably stoked. The last time I got this excited over a single album had to have been the VOID album from RL Grime which held up to pretty much all my expectations. Both albums had crazy awesome trailers which is something that I actually really like seeing. It builds an incredible amount of hype in my opinion and this one just looks cool. I’ve got to say that KTN has really been out there a whole bunch with tours and collaborations left and right all happening so quickly, you know he’s gearing up for something huge.
Anyway, Occult Classic has a total of 10 songs
1. Kill It 4 The Kids (feat. AWOLNATION & Rock City)
2. FUK UR MGMT
3. Mine
4. I Do Coke
5. Without A Trace (feat. Stalking Gia)
6. Louder (feat. Rock City)
7. Dolphin On Wheels
8. Lose Ya Love
9. Spitfire Riddim (feat. twoton)
10. All In My Head (feat. AWOLNATION)
the first of which has been released for a bit of a peek at what is to come from this album. Something that struck me was the odd combination of AWOLNATION and KTN on two whole songs. Who knows what the last one sounds like but on this first song Kill It 4 The Kids it doesn’t sound like any publicly released AWOLNATION track I’ve ever heard. Regardless, it sounds awesome and I can only assume that KTN was smart and didn’t release the best one off the album.
Not only do I anticipate the high energy that KTN has come to represent, but I’m actually kind of expecting to see some sort of calm, chilled out song that expresses another side of KTN that hasn’t shown itself that much. Fingers crossed. He said in an interview with Rolling Stone that he was pulling some inspiration from the latest Tame Impala album, Currents for its ability to convey to the listener just what kind of emotion was going into the music on the album. I hope to see that inspiration shine through in Occult Classic which by the way has an album cover slightly reminiscent of the cover for Worlds by Porter Robinson does it not?
Disclosure – Caracal (September 28th, 2015)
If you haven’t heard of this duo, you soon will. Disclosure is making great sounding sounds in a quite popular style of electronic music. Without knowing the official term, I think the best way to describe it would be something like 7ft deep house. It’s not quite deep house, but it’s just enough to fully submerge you. They worked with a whole bunch of great artists for this album including Gregory Porter who I consider one of the best singers alive. That’s just me though. Here’s a look at the track list that includes some tracks that have already been officially released:

I have really liked what I’ve seen from Disclosure so far. I think they have a very wonderful sound that fits really well into that evening mood when you’re trying to slow down. Looking forward to some introspective sounding music from this new album.
That’s pretty much all I’m super excited for. I know it isn’t a lot, but it’s plenty to keep me happy for a while.
