The Arcade is looking for opinions from you, the fans, about the video games you love (or hate!) and the memories you have about them. For this, DJ Miniboss has created a series called “Pause Menu Monologues” where anyone can send in a recording of themselves speaking about a video game related topic. There are a few guidelines to follow when making a Pause Menu Monologue:
1. The recording must only be 1 to 10 minutes long.
2. The topic must be related to video games.
3. No swearing (if you want your recording on air).
As rule #3 hints, you can indicate whether you want your segment played on air or merely archived. Every segment will be archived and made available through The Arcade’s social media, but only those people who want their segments on air will be played on The Arcade.
All you need to make your own Pause Menu Monologue is a love for video games. There are many ways to make a Pause Menu Monologue. If you have a way to record yourself and a will to speak it yourself, feel free to do that and send it to me. If you want to improvise, just make sure the segment is less than ten minutes, but feel free to write a script and follow that as well. Is a monologue too lonely? Invite a friend to converse with you! Too shy to record your own script? Send it to me to record for you.
The whole point is to get anyone who’s willing to talk about their opinions to share them and start a conversation. I hope Pause Menu Monologues inspire a listener to make their own in response, agreeing or disagreeing with the original opinion. To that end, I’ve made an example Pause Menu Monologue so that you can get a feel for what a Pause Menu Monologue could sound like as well as to inspire you to make your own.

So go out there, record your opinions, and send them in an email attachment to [email protected]. Go, go! I hope to hear from you all soon. If you have any questions or need any help, don’t hesitate to send a message to our Facebook page, DJ Miniboss’s tumblr page (djmonet.tumblr.com), or to the email above. Happy writing!
