Dylan Moses, the consensus No. 1 prospect from the class of 2017, has decommited from LSU, the University High junior announced via Twitter.
Moses, who plays both outside linebacker and running back, made his initial commitment to the Tigers in just his freshman year of high school but said he wants to make sure his next commitment, which won’t be until National Signing Day, is a decision that is best for him. Despite the decommitment, LSU remains his No. 1 choice, according to the lengthy post.
“Two years ago I decided I wanted to commit to LSU [because] it felt right,” Moses wrote. “I felt like it was what I expected to do. I have an awesome relationship with the staff. I love them because they treat me like family. My cousin (Corey Raymond) is on the coaching staff and I’ve built great relationships with Coach Miles, Coach Frank [Wilson] over the years.
“There’s definitely LOVE there. Because of this LSU is my #1. After talking to my mom, I now realize that when you’re truly committed to something, there’s no room for others to compete. There shouldn’t be any outside interest. I was younger and doing what I thought was right at the time. Now I truly understand what being committed means, I want to think things through and make sure that the next time I commit, I will be signing a letter of intent and there will be no other schools in the mix.”
Moses holds offers from 26 different schools, according to ESPN, but said in the post that he is currently focused on being a student-athlete, improving his skills and helping his team win another state championship.
