LSU redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Maquedius Bain will transfer to Pearl River Community College, he revealed via Twitter Monday afternoon. LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette also confirmed the announcement.
The 6-foot-4, 299-pound Florida native was reinstated to the team, along with junior quarterback Anthony Jennings and junior defensive back Dwayne Thomas, on July 31 following the trios June arrest for unauthorized entry into a dwelling (Thomas was also charged with simple burglary). Though all charges were dropped, Bain, like Jennings and Thomas, was expected to face unspecified team discipline, according to a news release from the program.
Bain played 10 games last season with no starts, recording just six tackles.
Despite Bain’s departure, senior defensive tackle Mickey Johnson has returned to the program, Bonnette confirmed. Johnson planned to transfer to Louisiana Tech, according to multiple reports, and did not participate in spring practice, but he provides needed depth to a defensive line that lost three members this offseason.
The Tigers report for fall camp on Wednesday.
