Analog Africa is a record label specializing in rare African music from the 60s and 70s, with a major focus on cuts that had a deep impact within the country of origin. Much of this music had never been released outside of the continent until founder Samy Ben Redjeb, of German and Tunisian heritage, established the label in 2001. Analog Africa has not only helped to bring this music, a lot of which does not fit in with preconceived notions of African music, to an international audience but has provided cultural context and bits of the artists’ oral history within the liner notes.
