Mahony’s Irish Pub , not to be confused with the Mahoney’s Irish Pub in New Orleans in New Orleans, is a new, laid-back sports bar coming to Chimes Street in July.
According to owner Gary Brown, Mahony’s is going to have the longest bar in Northgate and will be the only Irish Pub near campus.
“This will be our first venture into food. We also usually don’t charge cover. It’s just a laid-back bar,” Brown said.
While the bar is laid back, sports fans can look forward to watching their favorite games at Mahony’s during the regular seasons. Six 65-inch TVs line the walls, and a projector lies in the back of the bar.
The Chimes Street location was something Brown said he has been looking into for quite some time to expand the Mahony’s name, which originated in Houma.
“When we saw the Chimes Street location, we just felt that it would make the perfect fit,” Brown said.
Brown plans to quietly open the doors in mid-July and save its grand opening for August. While food will not be served until the grand opening, those passing by can stop in for a drink in the meantime.
