The Baton Rouge area saw the greatest number of AIDS diagnoses across the country through 2010, according to statistics released Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC’s latest HIV Surveillance Report indicates that 33.7 of every 100,000 Baton Rouge residents have AIDS.
New Orleans sits at No. 5 on the list, with 26.2 cases per 100,000.
The Daily Reveille reported in 2011 that Baton Rouge placed No. 2 among the CDC’s statistics, second only to Miami. The two cities have now swapped rankings.
