LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — A 32-year-old woman convicted of stealing more than $1.7 million from her former employer has committed suicide.
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office says Danielle Guidroz pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud last March and was to be sentenced Thursday in federal court. She faced up to 20 years in jail and a $250,000 fine.
Capt. Kip Judice says Guidroz is believed to have committed suicide early Thursday inside a home in Youngsville. Further information was not provided.
The Advocate reported Guidroz was the office manager and bookkeeper for Holloway Drilling Equipment and Holloway Rentals in Broussard from 2002 through February 2010. Guidroz acknowledged embezzling the money to open and maintain a ladies boutique in Lafayette.
Authorities say $200,000 has been recovered through the sale of several assets.
