Update 4:04 p.m.: Capt. Cory Lalonde, LSU PD spokesman, said police responded to the Sorority Row area because a suspicious person who was possibly carrying a weapon was reported to police.
The suspicious person, a male, was found, but police could not locate any weapon on the man or in the area. No charges were made, Lalonde said.
Update 12:45 a.m.: Police are searching for a “suspicious person” on Sorority Row and around the University lakes, drawing the attention of many sororities and fraternities on West Lakeshore Drive.
A representative with the LSU Police Department said the area is safe and “everything is OK,” but additional information will not be available until the morning during working hours.
Members of the fraternities and sororities were reportedly advised not to leave their houses as police surrounded the Pi Beta Phi house.
