Just five days after learning of Calvin Godfrey’s dismissal, new LSU head coach Johnny Jones wasted no time in inking a replacement.
Jones announced Saturday that former Memphis and UNO guard Charles Carmouche will transfer to LSU for his fifth and final year of eligibility.
Carmouche, who completed his degree requirements at Memphis, will enter LSU under the “NCAA Graduate” rule after he was granted an injury redshirt last season, only playing seven games for Memphis.
A 6-foot-3 183-pound New Orleans native, Carmouche graduated from McMain High School after being displaced to Texas after Hurricane Katrina.
He started 75 games for Memphis and UNO, averaging 7.4 points and 33 rebounds for his career thus far.
The latest addition brings a veteran presence to the Tiger lineup, which only returns three starters from last year’s NIT squad.
“He has an ability to defend and a knack for scoring,” Jones said in a news release. “With his experience, Charles brings a leadership and a presence to our team that we need heading into the start of preseason workouts.”
