LSU coach Les Miles squashed speculation of internal bickering before the BCS National Championship loss to Alabama in an address to the media Tuesday. Miles, speaking at length for the first time since the 21-0 loss, said there hasn’t been any negative interaction between players and coaching staff before any game this season. Miles said he “gave thought” to playing senior quarterback Jarrett Lee during the game but thought Alabama’s pass rush called for a mobile quarterback, which senior quarterback Jordan Jefferson could provide.
Miles also addressed the lack of playing time for junior wide receiver Russell Shepard, saying he had number of plays to call for Shepard if the team had gained any offensive momentum, which it did not. Miles said he understands top quarterback recruit Gunner Kiel’s decision decommit from LSU to stay close to home and play for Notre Dame, and followed by saying the team wanted players who would be “happy in Louisiana.”
