Jeremy Liggins, a dual-threat quarterback from Oxford, Miss., will not attend LSU after making an official visit to Baton Rouge last weekend, according to 247sports.com.
“I have scratched LSU,” Liggins told the website. “I was thinking about it real hard [Monday] night. I called LSU [Tuesday] and told them they were out.”
Liggins, a 6-foot-3, 270 pounder, was clocked in the 40-yard dash at 4.6 seconds and ranks as the No. 16 dual-threat quarterback according to Rivals.com. Liggins said he has narrowed his decision to two in-state schools — Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
“I just want to stay in Mississippi and represent my state,” Liggins said. “I love my state. I want to help bring a national championship to Mississippi.”
Liggins attended a big recruiting weekend for LSU, one that included several top prospects, including five-star junior college wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson.
“I was kind of in his ear about Ole Miss,” Liggins said. “The Ole Miss coaches asked me to keep an eye on him. I did.”
