A workshop, multiple activities and a film showing are all on the schedule for this year’s LGBT Awareness Week.
Hosted by the Gays, Bisexuals, Lesbians, Supporters United, the week from April 21 to 25 will feature events to help students identify with the lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender community.
The events include Gay at a Glance, an event that pairs non-LGBT volunteers with GBLSU members, in Free Speech Alley on Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a picnic planned Tuesday for the Parade Ground, and Wednesday is the LSU Day of Silence.
GBLSU members will hand out “SILENCED” stickers and event pushcards in Free Speech Alley from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Advocate Training, which deals with “major issues concerning LGBT persons at LSU” will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday in the Student Union International Room. The events will conclude Thursday evening with a showing of the film “Paragraph 175” at 7 p.m. in 145 Coates Hall.
Friday is The National Day of Silence, which aims to shed light on “anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools.”
