Jeffrey Noel filed a complaint Tuesday morning with the Student Government Trial Court against Jacob Gower, SG elections commissioner.
Noel, mass communication freshman, filed the complaint because of an SG Election Code discrepancy. Noel argues the SG Election Board should hear the seven election complaints he filed Monday afternoon contesting Colorado Robertson and Shannon Bates’ eligibility to serve as the 2008-2009 SG president and vice president.
Gower dismissed Noel’s complaints Monday, telling Noel they were invalid because they were not filed with the University clerk of court within two class days of the end of the election.
Noel is protesting Gower’s dismissal on grounds SG does not have an official University clerk of court. Noel claims Gower is the next appropriate channel according to the election code, but Noel asserts it would have been impossible to file the complaint within two class days because Gower was out of the state on Friday, April 11.
Robert Dowie will serve as the temporary SG University clerk of court for the meeting scheduled for 2 p.m. this afternoon.
