LSU senior sprinter Kelly-Ann Baptiste ran an NCAA-leading time of 22.96 seconds in the 200-meter dash Saturday afternoon at the Tiger Invitational.
Baptiste also holds the nation’s top time in the 100-meter dash with a mark of 11.06 seconds.
Baptiste’s personal best in the 200-meter dash is 22.73 seconds, set at the Mideast Regional in 2006.
Senior Richard Thompson won the men’s 200-meter dash with a wind-aided time of 20.74 seconds. It was the first time Thompson ran the 200-meter dash this season.
Thompson set the school record in the 100-meter dash April 5 at the Texas Relays with a nation-leading time of 10.0 seconds.
Neither Thompson nor Baptiste competed in the 100-meter dash. Junior Trindon Holliday won that race with a wind-aided time of 10.23 seconds.
Junior Nickiesha Wilson won the women’s 400-meter hurdles with an NCAA-best time of 55.83 seconds.
Wilson beat the second-place hurdler, Troy University’s Porsche Holden, by more than six seconds.
