There is still controversy about when SG President-Elect Colorado Robertson will be installed as the new SG president.
Robertson and current SG President Cassie Alsfeld met Monday morning, but the two did not reach a compromise about when Robertson will take office.
Alsfeld said she does not want Robertson to be sworn in until April 23 because she needs more time to finish writing memorandums and end-of-the-year documents.
“How realistic is it for us to get out four days early with a bunch of decisions still needing to be made?” Alsfeld said.
Robertson said he intends to be installed April 21.
Meanwhile, seven election complaints were filed Monday afternoon contesting Colorado Robertson and Shannon Bates’ eligibility to serve as the 2008-2009 Student Government president and vice president, respectively.
But because Jeffrey Noel, mass communication freshman, filed the complaints with SG Elections Commissioner Jacob Gower at 4 p.m. Monday, they are invalid according to SG’s election code.
Gower chairs the SG Election Board and said because Noel did not file the complaints within two class of the end of the election with the University clerk of court, they were dismissed at 5:30 p.m.
Gower said if Noel filed the complaints according to the rules they could have led to Robertson-Bates’ disqualification, depending on the boards ruling.
Noel filed the complaints claiming $101.49 of unaccounted expenditures, which would mean Senate Speaker Robertson and mass communication junior Bates spent more than their allowed $866.50 runoff election budget.
