BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Doctor and hospital groups have filed public records requests, trying to get details about the Jindal administration’s health care restructuring plan.
The Louisiana chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Louisiana Hospital Association want copies of documents detailing the proposal the state health agency is discussing with federal officials.
Gov. Bobby Jindal wants to revamp the way the state delivers health care services to the poor and uninsured, moving the state toward a “managed care” insurance system.
State Department of Health and Hospitals Secretary Alan Levine says he’s not upset by the groups’ actions. But he says it’s only fair for him to craft his proposal before people start picking at it.
